Community garden supplies local food pantries with thousands of pounds of organic fruit & vegetables each year

One man’s vision for what was once a vacant lot tucked away in the Central West End has not only grown beyond his wildest dreams, but now yields thousands of pounds of fresh produce to feed hundreds of families in St. Louis.

Now in its eighth growing season, the Central West End Farm has produced more than 13,000 pounds of organic fruits and vegetables for clients at two community food pantries. Second Presbyterian Church Good Ground Pantry and Trinity Episcopal Church Food Ministry are the beneficiaries of the farm’s bounty.

Based on one of the principles in the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights that states everyone deserves and has the right to food, Central West End Farm founder Arthur Culbert and his wife, Nancy, have brought a community together to help eradicate hunger in St. Louis.
